The School Of Renovating has been named as a finalist n the Bx Business xCellence Awards. It’s a great honour to be recognised and to be part of the finalist.
The 2021 Business xCellence Awards presented by Business Networking as they celebrate their 5th year, the awards program has become a highlight for all Bx Members across Australia and New Zealand to aspire to.
Empowering Women In Australia
One of the reasons why we are excited about being a finalist of the 2021 Business xCellence Awards is that it offers an incredible opportunity to amplify our message of women’s empowerment.
Many women have patchy careers, taking time off to have babies and care for children or other family members. A study in Denmark in 2018 showed that when a woman has her first child, her earning capacity is reduced by up to 20% and it NEVER fully recovers.
At The School of Renovating, our mission is to support women with a passion and flair for making beautiful homes to create an income and a life they love from renovating. Through our experience and enduring commitment, we empower women of any age to overcome financial disadvantages and boost their confidence and self-esteem, including when approaching retirement. In doing this the entire family benefits.
Amazing Results From Our Online Programs
The School of Renovating was founded by Bernadette Janson in 2013. A large part of Bernadette’s work has been focused on creating the school and its online renovation courses to provide the knowledge and skills for renovation success.
It might be interesting for you to know how things are going and what’s involved as well. Last year due to the pandemic, our business came to a grinding halt! In some ways, things are not turning out how I expected, and in other ways they are. It’s almost all good news, which is a massive bonus.
All our programs were previously filled and delivered via live events. We had always been apprehensive about giving online courses since it would be more difficult to connect with our students and understand their needs. We are delighted to say this has now changed and our renovation programs have gone from strength to strength – all delivered online.
We are so proud of our nomination for the Business xCellence Awards!
Leveraging Small-Group Learning To Its Full Potential
The power of small-cohort learning was one of the things we did. This involves the use of small groups and has shown a more meaningful learning experience, with increased engagement, motivation, and connection. The programs’ groups formed during weekly Zoom tutorials, where students not only interacted with Bernadette and her presenters, but also got to know one another, shared plans and experiences, and formed bonds.
Pride As Business Xcellence Awards Finalist
Bernadette: “I am delighted to be named as a finalist for the Business Xcellence Awards and am proud of our achievements in the past 12 months despite the pandemic. I’m particularly proud having been able to establish a process for joint ventures in our community, organising The Class Project entirely with investment from 14 graduates from within our community and being able to thrive in these challenging times.
And of course, it takes a village! I am so very grateful to our incredible team and inspiring community of renovators for their unwavering support.”
